There are far too few people in this world who think.
I often say that I am just an ordinary person, an unremarkable little person among the countless masses. But if you and I are the same, why can I keep on thinking, while you give up and settle for conclusions?
I suppose this is what the loneliness of thinking is.
I often feel an immense emptiness, because no one can understand the way I think. Everyone is talking, and everyone is competing, each wanting their own words to be the only ones. And in the end? Only a conclusion remains, and the process of reasoning is left out entirely.
I only want to think on my own, yet I am judged to be moody; I only close my door to quiet my mind and lose myself, yet I am mistaken for being under too much pressure. The kind of person I hate most is the one who clearly doesn’t want to think, doesn’t dare to think, isn’t able to think, yet always looks with sympathy on the very few who do, and in the name of love stops them from reasoning, stops them from reaching new ideas — because new ideas bring revolution, and Jehovah’s messengers will never allow that to happen.
Ah! Do not lose your divinity, do not lose your divinity! Lawful violence is not violence, and everything done in the name of love is entirely right. And what is left behind? The Confucian society of Great Harmony? How wonderful!
Everyone has the right to write down their thoughts with a pen; it is the very root of living. Do not, in the name of love, make people give up their last defiance.
